Palette Knife
Palette Knife’s sophomore release was in need of an identity that spoke to its video game-inspired narrative. Driving inspiration from vintage video game branding, the art strives to tell the story of a malevolent AI trapping the band members within the album. This art was done in collaboration with Alec Licata.

The centerpiece of this brand was the title type. Inspired by cyberpunk, y2k, and video games, this custom type helped drive the rest of the brand elements—the most notable motif deriving from album’s villain, "Plus".
I evolved the plus icon to work within a design system that could easily be expanded for single artwork and other promotional pieces.

The Campaign
To generate excitement, we launched a campaign of sequential cryptic posts incorporating imagery from the album. These posts hinted at the virtual realm central to the album's narrative and the nefarious plans of its antagonist.
To unveil the album, we crafted a "developer post" to deepen the immersion in the concept of "New Game Plus" as if it were a video game.
